The first Eastern Ontario Auto Extrication Competition and Learning Symposium was held in 1990, when a 40th anniversary project brought four teams together to safely rescue a victim from a simulated car crash. This became the first regional competition in Eastern Ontario. In 1992, the E.O.A.E.A. hosted a 2-day event with teams from eastern Ontario and northern New York State participating to gain knowledge and experience. In the ensuing years, several of the teams competing at our annual Eastern Ontario Regional have gone on to compete at the annual International Extrication Competition, which is held alternately in the U.S. and Canada.
